Light Bulb Power Consumption: Wattage
Any light source consumes power. Light bulbs consume electricity measured in wattage. Lights have differing efficiency that results in varied levels of power consumption. Higher wattage does not always mean higher brightness.
Wattage of LEDs compared to incandescent light bulbs
LED bulbs can generate twice the brightness of light (Lumens) at a fifth the wattage. Yes, that is right, the brightness of a 30 watt incandescent can be doubled by a 6 watt LED light bulb. To match the brightness of the LED you would require a 15 watt compact florescent light bulb.
